Alejo Ortega Obituary (1973 - 2025)

Alejo Ortega, lovingly known as "Dad" by his children, passed away on December 27, 2025. Born on September 24, 1973, in Acámbaro, Guanajuato, Mexico, Alejo was a devoted husband, father, and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate to know him. Alejo was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and took great pride in his job at Texhoma ISD as the Maintenance/Bus Director. He had a genuine love for all children and was always involved in his children's school events and in the Texhoma community. Alejo also had a great love for horses. He is proceeded in death by his mother: Abigail Ortega. He is survived by the love of his life of over 23 years; Jennifer Johnson; their children: Hannah Goetze and Joseph; daughter: Abigail Ortega; daughter: Hermelinda Ortega; son: Joshua Ortega and Fiancé Kylee Bryant. One sister: America Martinez and husband Armando; two brothers, Sam and Michelle Ortega and Lole Ortega and wife Mary Jo. He is also survived by one grandchild: Carter Ortega and his parents: Samuel Ortega. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and several friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Henson~Novak Funeral Chapel in Texhoma, Texas. Rosary Services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2025, at 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Henson~Novak Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Joseph Schwarz officiating. Interment will follow at Texhoma Cemetery. We welcome family, friends, and others who knew Alejo to share their favorite memories and pictures of him on his memorial page.
