Arletta Shores

Arletta Belle Shores, born on the 8th of April, 1943 in Guymon, Oklahoma, was one of a kind. Once you met her, she was not easily forgotten. Her quit wit and sassiness made her a joy to be around. Throughout her 82 years, she touched everyone who had the honor of knowing her.

Arletta grew up in The Oklahoma Panhandle and attended Yarbrough Schools, graduating with the class of 1961. Early on in her adult education, Arletta started a career as a beautician before marrying Duane and becoming a stay-at-home wife and mother, harvest crew cook and farm parts runner.

Arletta’s life was a living testament to the timeless phrase, "Love You a Bushel and a Peck and a Hug around the Neck" a sentiment she always told her grandkids and great-grandkids. Her heart was in every meal she cooked, every “at home” haircut she gave, and every community service given with the Eva Night Owls. Her greatest joy was her family, her life’s work and her most cherished accomplishment.

Though widowed, Arletta found strength in her independence and solace in the memories she shared with her beloved late husband Duane. She was the daughter of the late Floyd and Emma Conger, and sister to Charles Conger, Dennis Conger and Barbara Conger Lavake.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Janet Ramey and Lorinda Shores and her grandchildren, Tyler Shilling and wife Molly, and Tate Shilling and wife Peyton. Three Great-Grandchildren, Sammy Shilling, Cooper Shilling, and Colson Shilling. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Henson-Novak Funeral Home in Guymon.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Henson-Novak Funeral Home Chapel in Guymon.
