Betty Jo Garcia

Guymon, Oklahoma - Betty Jo Garcia, 46, passed away Monday afternoon, June 15th, 2009 at the Morton County Hospital in Elkhart, Kansas.

The daughter of Angie(Cruz) and Mark Martinez, Jr., she was born April 5, 1963 in Guymon. Betty attended Guymon schools and graduated with the GHS Class of 1981. She was united in marriage to Moises Garcia on December 7, 1990 in Liberal, Kansas. Betty was a licensed nurse assistant and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She was a devoted and loving mother, daughter, wife and grandmother and cared for everyone around her.

She is survived by her parents, Angie and Mark Martinez, Jr. of Liberal, KS; husband, Moises Garcia of Guymon; four daughters, Summer Martinez, Jessica Martinez and Teresia Garcia, all of Guymon; and Veronica Garcia of California; two sons, Eduardo Garcia of Mexico and Moises Garcia, Jr. of California; three sisters, Jeannette Werner of Wichita, KS; Donita Ketterman of Pryor, OK; and Yolanda Martinez of Liberal; and three brothers, Richard Martinez of Borger, Mark Martinez and Phillip Martinez, both of Liberal. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Gabriella and Isais Sanchez, Adrianna and Xiadrah Cordova; Zayleigh Jaramillo; Jesse and Jacob Garcia and Jaylynn Garcia and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Xavier Jaramillo.

Prayer Vigil services will be Thursday evening, June 18th at 7:00 PM at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday afternoon, June 19th, at 2:00 P.M. at St. Peter's with Rev. Bill Pruitt officiating. Interment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery under the direction of Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon.

Viewing and visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00-9:00 PM and Thursday from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
