Clarice Gilbert Obituary (1935

Hardesty, Oklahoma - Clarice Roberta Pierson Gilbert, 75, lifelong Hardesty area resident, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, KS. The daughter of Edna (Driscoll) and Edgar F. Pierson, Clarice was born March 13, 1935 in the Range Community, southeast of Hardesty. She attended Hardesty Schools and later attended beauty school at Dodge City, KS and worked as a beautician for 20 years. Clarice was united in marriage to Lewis G. Gilbert on November 21, 1951 in Clayton, New Mexico. She was a member of Union Center Methodist Church. Her other memberships included, Memorial Hospital of Texas County Hospital Auxiliary, Senior Citizens, Dustbowl Dames and Hardesty Homemakers. In her younger years, she participated in roping and barrel racing and for the past 60 years has closely followed family and friends in the sport of roping. Clarice also enjoyed senior citizen's dances, playing cards and was a league bowler for the Hardesty Mercantile. Most of all, she loved being a part of her grandchildren's lives and being present to watch their various activities. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Lewis Gilbert; two sons, Kenneth Gilbert and wife, Debra, of Thornton, WV and Terry Gilbert and wife, Becky, of Hardesty, OK; five grandchildren, Kyle Gilbert and wife, Traci of Bainbridge, GA; Sandra Gilbert of Huntington, WV; and Melyssa, Krysta and Caitlyn Gilbert all of Hardesty. Her parents; one sister, Elsie Blagg Lamb; two brothers, Vernon Pierson and Pete (Albert) Pierson; mother and father-in-law, George and Emma Gilbert; sister-in-law, Pat Gilbert; and two brothers-in-law, Perry Blagg and Frank Gilbert preceded her in death. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 28th at 10:00 A.M. at the Hardesty High School Auditorium with Rev. Herbert Bridgewater, pastor of the Union Center Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Range Cemetery under the care of Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00-9:00 P.M. Monday and from 9:00 A.M.
