Dorothy Madeline Trent Obituary (1919

Dorothy Trent, 90, lifelong Guymon resident, passed away Thursday evening, January 7th, 2010 at Memorial Hospital of Texas County. Dorothy Madeline Griffith was born May 23, 1919 to Lola Rae (Bledsoe) and Ed Griffith. She attended Guymon schools and was united in marriage to Harold L. Trent on May 2, 1939 in Boise City, OK. Dorothy drove a bus and cooked for many years at Unity school and later for the Guymon schools. She was a devoted wife and mother, sacrificing her time and talents for her family. She was a gifted seamstress, making most of her daughters' clothes and was known as one of the "best cooks in the country", famous for her homemade pies and donuts. She also cooked out at the Guymon sale barn for many years. Dorothy loved gardening and so enjoyed her flowers. She taught her daughters to be strong and continued to be a loving part of her family as an adoring grandmother and great grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Charles O. Griffith and her husband, Harold L. Trent who passed away in 2005. Survivors include three daughters, Betty and husband, Melvin Cruzan; Lillie and husband, Wayne Green; and Darlene and husband, Gary Cobb, all of Guymon; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Terry Green and wife, Norma; Tammy and husband, John Hans; Carla and husband, Martin Hernandez; Steve Cruzan and wife, Mona; Lisa and husband, Steve Kuroye; Tate Cobb; Tucker Cobb and wife, Stacey; and twelve great grandchildren, Tanner Green and wife, Tara; Trey Terry, Marty Hans, Jacy, Chaz and Cheyenne Cobb; Bailey and Ty Cobb; Jade and Payton Cruzan, Haven Hernandez; and Austin Lozano. The Trent family will receive friends at Henson-Novak Funeral Directors, 501 NW Fifth, on Sunday evening, 6:00-8:00 PM. Funeral services will be Monday afternoon, January 11, 2010, 2:00 PM at the Henson-Novak Funeral Chapel with family friend, Bill Newman, officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery.
