Glade Johnson, 83, longtime Hardesty, Oklahoma, farmer and rancher, passed away Sunday morning, April 6th, 2014 at his home in Gruver, Texas.

Emiel Glade Johnson was born December 29, 1930 to Paul and Vonnona Phillips Johnson. He was born in the Camrick community and moved when he was 5 to the present home place near Hardesty, Oklahoma, where he spent the rest of his life. As a small boy his constant companions were his old dog "Rover" and his horse "Tintsey".

He attended Hardesty schools until his senior year when he and friend DeWayne Brown decided to go to Military school at Columbia Military Academy in Columbia Tennessee. His father passed away at midterm and he left school and returned home to help his mother run the family farm.

He married his best friend and lifelong love, Phyllis Gyene Wray, on October 29, 1949. They were 17 and 18 and took over the farm. Together they raised their seven children. Glade was always a jokester and nicknamed everyone. He loved his family and tried never to miss any activity they were involved in. He served twenty five years on the Hardesty school board and was a Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Hardesty.

Music was a big part of Glade's life. Anyone who knew him during his high school years would always identify the song "Danny Boy" as sung by Glade. He loved to sleep with his music playing low. He had a beautiful singing voice and led the music at the church for many years.
