Evelyn Louise Papay, 86, former Optima resident, passed away early morning December 25, 2012 in Oklahoma City, OK

Services will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 29th @ 2:00 PM at Panhandle Bible Center, 1901 N. Lelia, Guymon, OK. Burial will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery under the care of Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon.

The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral Home Friday evening, 5:30-8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Integris Hospice House, 13920 Quailbrook Dr., Oklahoma City, OK 73134.

Evelyn Louise and her twin brother Everett were born on October 6, 1926 in Elkhart, KS to John and Mary Arella McCaffery Nester.

She married Guy W. Papay on Feb. 14, 1943 in Hugoton, KS. They began life together in Elkhart, KS and later moved to Optima, OK where they resided for over 50 years before moving to Guthrie, OK. Evelyn was Postmaster at Optima for over 25 years before retiring. She was actively involved in her community and known for her hospitality and cooking. She was an exceptional mother and grandmother and most people knew her as "Granny" a title she loved. She loved gardening, cooking, crocheting, walking and her dogs. Evelyn lived with her daughter Peggy and son-in-law Lynn for the last 4 years.

She is survived by her children, Dianne Lee and husband Jim of Edmond, OK, Kathy White and husband Ronny of Guymon, OK, and Peggy Winters and husband Lynn of Edmond, OK; grandchildren Mike Lee of Guthrie, OK, Catherine Martin and husband Mike of Mounds, OK, Brent White and wife Crystale of Guymon, OK, Karissa Freeman and husband Josh of Goodwell, OK and Brandon Winters and wife Linda of Yukon, OK; great grandchildren, Zachary and Nathan Lee, Lane and Blake Martin, Morghin and Ryle White, Trenton Winters, Thaxton and Lakyn Freeman, and Ezra, Ivie and Gaven Gose; sisters, Geneva Corpening of Kinsley, KS, Vera Neal of Williamsburg, KS, Maxine Bruner Ottawa, KS and Lynn Whisennand of Shawnee, OK; brother, Ronald Nester of Aurora, CO; Sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Kern of Elkhart, KS, Joy Foreman of Guymon and Mary Ida Papay of Elkhart, KS Loraine Nester of Thornton, WV; brother-in-law, Larry Papay of Greenfield, OK.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Wayne Papay, brothers Everett, Bill and Donald Nester, sister Helen Antonelli and brothers-in-law Jamie, Emit, Ed, Kenneth, Roy, Gerald and Neil, sisters-in-law Tommie Fern, Marge and Ann Papay and granddaughter-in-law Tina Lee.
