Gary A. Ikeler Obituary (1962

Gary Alan Ikeler, 46, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 8, 2009 as a result of an auto accident near Elkhart, Kansas. The son of Margaret (Salazar) and J.B. Ikeler, Gary was born October 16, 1962 in Merced, California. He grew up in Guymon and graduated from Guymon High School with the Class of 1980. Gary married the love of his life, Cynthia Ann Costilla on June 18, 1983 in Guymon. He had worked for OXY U.S.A., INC. for 25 years as a Production Tech., living in Boise City from 1987 to 1996, then moving to the Eva Community in 1996 and the Ikelers had moved to Elkhart, Kansas in 2007. Gary was a Christian and a wonderful son, brother, husband and father. He loved music and was the bass guitarist for the band Bad Habit for more than 30 years. He loved "catchin the breeze" and "stylin" on his motorcycle. He will be missed by so many friends, but most of all by his family. Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Ikeler of Elkhart, KS; his three sons, Rudy A. Ikeler of Austin, TX; Ricky B. Ikeler and Cody J.B. Ikeler, both of Elkhart; a brother, James (Mouse) Ikeler of Guymon; mother-in-law, Carmen Costilla of Guymon; sisters-in-law, Sheila Ikeler of Guymon; Daniela Scherder of Bowling Green, MO; and Lydia Costilla of Abilene, TX; brother-in-law, Andy Costilla of Borger, TX; and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Margaret Ikeler, a brother, Teddy Jay Ikeler and his father-in-law, Raul Costilla. A Rosary will be said on Sunday evening, October 11th, 7:00 P.M., at the Henson-Novak Funeral Chapel, 501 NW Fifth, Guymon. Funeral services will be Monday afternoon, October 12th, 2:00 P.M. at Living Word Fellowship, 802 N Roosevelt, Guymon, with Rev. Dale Stephens and Rev. Jay Mathis officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Gary Ikeler Memorial Fund to help with future college expenses for Ricky and Cody Ikeler.
