Mary Strain

Goodwell, Oklahoma - Mary Margaret Strain, 57, passed away Monday morning, November 2, 2009 at her home.

The daughter of Dorothy (Bingaman) and Leo McMakin, she was born August 20, 1952 in Norman, Oklahoma. Mary graduated from Goodwell High School with the Class of 1970 and later graduated from Panhandle State University. She was married to Rex Strain on March 18, 1972. Mary worked as a Lab Technician for several years at Medical Arts Clinic in Guymon and later taught science at Guymon Junior High School. She was a member of the Merry Matrons, American Association of University Women and Panhandle Centenary United Methodist Church.

Mary is survived by her husband, Rex Strain; daughter, Becky Strain of League City, TX; Son, Barry Strain and wife, Alicia of Amarillo, TX; her mother, Dorothy McMakin of Goodwell; two granddaughters, Brailey and Colby Strain of Amarillo; and two brothers, Roger McMakin of Albuquerque, NM; and Leo Patrick McMakin and wife, Connie of Winter Springs, FL.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leo McMakin, who passed away in 2008.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday morning, November 6, 2009, 10:00 A.M. at Panhandle Centenary United Methodist Church, Goodwell, with Rev. Alex True, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Goodwell Cemetery.
