Mickey Hipp Obituary (1951

Mickey Lynn Hipp came into this world voicing his opinion on November 8, 1951 to Ralph L. and Lena Hipp in Guymon, Oklahoma. Mickey had his wife convinced for years that he was born a preemie. His mother heard him one time commenting about being born so little at birth that she set the record straight. She said "Mickey Lynn, you were not born a preemie and quit telling her stories like that!" Mickey attended first and second grade in Elkhart, Kansas and then the family moved to Boise City where he graduated in 1969. He obtained a Bachelors degree in Speech Communications with a minor in Business Marketing from Panhandle A&M College in 1974. Mickey held various jobs throughout his life, a few being an EMT for the Cheyenne Arapaho Indians in Clinton, Oklahoma, a cross country truck driver, but his passion was owning Mickey's Gun Shop dealing in firearms and making custom knives. His second passion was trapshooting. He won the Texas State Shoot in 1980. Mickey was introduced to Delvenia by a good friend, James Wade. He told Mickey to ask her out because he was tired of her hanging out at his house all the time. Mickey and Delvenia were married in December of 2000 in Clayton, New Mexico. When someone would ask him how long he'd been married, his reply was "It feels like five minutes underwater!" Mickey had various health issues over the year, but he was a tough fighter and always bounced back after each one. After contracting COVID in December, his body just couldn't fight any longer and he succumbed to double pneumonia on June 14, 2021 at Union County Hospital in Clayton, New Mexico. He is preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Lena and a brother, Lyndon Hipp. He is survived by his wife Delvenia and five fur babies of the home, numerous cousins and a host of friends who were like family, along with a bonus brother and sister, Howard Terrell of Tonkawa, Oklahoma and Paula Hinton of Vancouver, Washington and a god daughter, Jacki Terrell of Tonkawa, Oklahoma. Memorials can be made to the Cimarron Trap Club, PO Box 972, Boise City, Oklahoma 73933. Mickey was thrilled to see young kids shooting and competing in his favorite sport. He loved going on Sunday afternoons to watch them practice shooting when he felt able. Friends and family may sign the guest book or leave an online condolence.
