Modell Sparks, 81, passed away late Monday, March 5th, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of Texas County. Guymon, Oklahoma - D. Modell Sparks, 81, passed away late Monday, March 5, 2012 at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County. The daughter of Martha Elizabeth (McCubbin) and Nathan Pinkney Sinclair, she was born May 6, 1930 in Hollis, Oklahoma. The Sinclair family moved to the Roswell, New Mexico area during the 1930s where they farmed. Modell attended East Grand Plains Grade School and Roswell High School. She was united in marriage to Richard Ferrell (Sparky) Sparks on September 20, 1947. They lived in Roswell until moving to Guymon in 1963. Modell and Richard opened and operated Sparks Electric, where Modell worked in the office for many years. Their son, Terry, joined the family business in 1976. She was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, was a fantastic cook and received great joy in spoiling her family. Her best friend and husband for 64 years, Richard Sparks, passed away October 10, 2011. She was a member of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church. Modell is survived by her son, Terry Sparks and wife, Brenda; two granddaughters, Lacey Sawvel and husband, Sam of Tulsa, OK; and Dakota Sparks of Guymon; three brothers-in-law, Bobby Sparks and wife, Betty of Sacramento, CA; Jimmy Prince and wife, Phyllis of Hollis, OK; and Milton Sparks and wife Jacquelyn of Highland, CA; sisters-in-law, Cindy Prince of Roswell, NM and Virgie Wilton and husband, Wayne of Mayfield, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and three sisters, Lorene Petty, Lois Lampkin and Vesta Lee Roberts; and a brother-in-law, Billy Prince. The Sparks family will receive friends at the Henson-Novak Funeral Home, 501 NW Fifth, on Thursday evening, 6-8:00 PM. Memorial services will be Friday afternoon, March 9th, 1:30 PM at Victory Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Holdeman and Rev. Barry Bennett officiating.
