Dr. Morris S. Couch Obituary (1920

Morris S. Couch, D.O., passed away early Monday, January 13, 2014 at his home here in Guymon. The son of Goldie (Seaman) and Alfred Bostic Couch, he was born October 24, 1920 in Guymon, Oklahoma. Young Morris attended Kansas City schools and then graduated from Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was married to Katherine Joyce Huff in 1946 and she preceded him in death in 1973. Dr. Couch practiced medicine for more than 50 years in Guymon. Along with being an excellent physician, Dr. Couch was an avid golfer, enjoyed flying, and traveling. He was united in marriage to Aline (Wood) Nickey in 1980. Morris and Aline traveled extensively, visiting every continent and fitting in a round or two of golf whenever he could. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a longtime member of the Guymon Rotary Club. Dr. Couch was a loving husband, father, "Popo" to his grandchildren, and will be missed for his candor and wit. He is survived by his wife, Aline Couch; daughter, Mary Lynn and husband, Albert Erdman of Guymon; son, Steve Couch and wife, Carolina of Wichita, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Sharon Couch of Buena Vista, Colorado; son, Bobby Nickey of Las Vegas, Nevada; seven grandchildren, Kasey and husband, Jeff Meyer; Codi and husband, Tim Thompson; Cresta and husband, Jason Crowther; Chloe Couch; Conor Couch and wife, Connie; Sterling and husband, Chris Connell; Gant Nickey; and 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Betty McMurry of Guymon and her family. He was also preceded in death by his son, Dick Couch, who passed away in 2012; and a grandson, Morris Keim Erdman, who passed away in 1988. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon, January 16th, 2:00 P.M. at the Henson-Novak Funeral Chapel, 501 NW Fifth Street, Guymon, with Rev. Gary Holdeman, pastor of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the Panhandle Area Sheltered Workshop, PASW, c/o Henson-Novak Funeral Directors, P.O. Box 1306, Guymon, OK 73942.
