Novella Tidwell Williams Obituary (1918

Novella F. (Tidwell) Williams,91, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 29, 2009 at Baptist Saint Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo, Texas. Novella was born in Reed, OK on January 27, 1918 to William and Jewel (Solomon) Tidwell. She moved to Texhoma in 1928 where the family was involved in farming. Novella graduated from Texhoma High School in 1935. She married Paul Williams, a Guymon boy, on January 1, 1936. Novella worked for the Guymon School Food Service for 25 years. Her love of children was very obvious. She cooked at Camp Gibson and sponsored campers for many years. She loved teaching her first graders at church for 30 years and working in the church nursery. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Encouragers Sunday School class and the Women's Missionary Union. She was also an active member of the community. She was a member of the Paul Scarlet Garden Club and Jolly Stitcher's. Novella was a homemaker at heart. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed sharing her goodies with many friends and family. She enjoyed teaching her daughter and granddaughters the art of home canning from her garden. Her homemade grape jelly is famous in the family. Novella enjoyed playing spades and dominos with her friends. She also enjoyed fishing in Colorado with her family where she always seemed to catch the most. Survivors include three daughters, Oneda Stewart and husband, Bob, of Seattle, Washington; Pauline Payne and husband, Doug, of Dallas, Texas; Della Scott and husband Phil, of Guymon; one son, Tommy Williams and wife, Sharon, of Guymon; six grandchildren, Tobin Stewart of Seattle, WA; Paula Corbello and husband, Robbie of Dallas, TX; Jennifer Scott of Guymon; James Williams of Norman, OK; Kristine Scott of Guymon; and Sharise Williams of Hooker; and three great grandsons, Nathan Corbello, Andrew Corbello, and Zakk Humble, and one beloved sister, Audrey Kincannon of Keys. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Williams, her parents, four sisters, and an infant daughter Callie Bea Williams. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Henson-Novak Funeral Home. Memorial services will be Wednesday morning, April 1, 2009 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church with Rev. Derek Cox, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery.
