Robert (Mickey) Ramos Obituary (1945

Robert (Mickey) Ramos, 69, passed away late Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Amarillo, Texas. The son of Elvira (Silva) and Encarnation Ramos, he was born July 17, 1945 in Dumas, Texas. Robert attended Dumas schools. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force from 1964-1968. Robert was united in marriage to Carolina Miranda on November 24, 1968 in Asherton, Texas. Robert began his career with Panhandle Eastern, working in Dumas; Brighton, Colorado. The Ramos family moved to Guymon in 1992 where Robert continued working for Duke Energy, retiring in 2006. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Robert, known as Mickey to his friends, was a devoted fan to his Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed traveling and visiting casinos. He was a doting and proud "PoPo" to his seven grandchildren! He is survived by his wife, Carolina (Carol) Ramos; daughter, Diana Ramos of Guymon; son, Mike Ramos and wife, Cherie, of Amarillo, Texas; brother, Thomas Ramos of Dumas, Texas; seven grandchildren, Michael, Jerianna, Javen, Jerreth, and Jerrin Gardner, Tay and Kalix Leverett; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Joe Gonzales and Ernie Ramos; and two sisters, Lilly Spradlin and Lupe Garcia. A Prayer Vigil will be Friday evening, 7:00 PM at the Henson-Novak Funeral Chapel, 501 NW Fifth, Guymon. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday morning, 10:00 AM, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 1220 N Quinn, Guymon, with Father Mike Wheelahan, officiating. Graveside services with military rites will be Saturday afternoon, 2:00 PM at the Dumas Cemetery, Dumas, Texas.
