Sally J. Mcmurry Goldsberry Obituary (1933

Sally J. McMurry Goldsberry August 4, 1933 - June 18, 2012 Sally was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt. Friends and neighbors were part of an extended family that she cherished. Sally was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Charles Stewart McMurry, her mother, Beulah Burchfield McMurry, her brother, Dr. Charles Stewart McMurry II, her sister, Tabitha McMurry Reed and her husband of more than fifty years, Gene Goldsberry. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Bruce Graham, granddaughters Maggie and Audrey Graham, sisters-in-law Mary Anne McMurry, Mona Goldsberry, Dixie Armstrong, nieces and nephews and their families. Born August 4, 1933 in Garden City Kansas, Sally spent her childhood in Utica, Kansas before moving to Guymon, Oklahoma. After graduating from Panhandle State University, she began her teaching career in Winslow, Arizona where she met Gene Goldsberry. Sally and Gene moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1979, where they eventually retired and began new careers as full-time, devoted grandparents. Sally's greatest joy came from watching her granddaughters grow up. Known affectionately as "Mema", she loved her granddaughters unconditionally. Mema was a part of their daily lives as she guided them and prepared them for whatever the future might hold. Known for her spirit and positive approach to life, Sally believed in the power and healing of God's mercy and grace. She believed that each of us has a very special purpose and when our work here is done, we will be called home at a time to be determined by God. Although it seems she was called home far too soon, we trust in our faith that her work here was done and it was time for her to rest. Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 AM, Saturday July 7, 2012 in Elmhurst Cemetery, Guymon, Oklahoma with Rev. Deborah Hollifield, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Guymon, officiating.
