Boise City, Oklahoma
Vicki Jean Roberts passed from this life surrounded by her family on June 13th, 2024 in Boise City, Oklahoma and was welcomed into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ. Vicki was born May 11th, 1946, the sixth of seven children to Lester "Pop" and Ercil "Mom" White in Lubbock, Texas. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at age nine and was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Lubbock. As a young person, she excelled in competitive swimming. She graduated from Lubbock Senior High School in 1964 where she was active in theater and music and then attended Texas Tech University.
On November 28, 1976 she married Monty Joe Roberts; a marriage that lasted over 47 years. She worked on the Roberts family ranch until 1997 when she and Monty Joe opened the Black Mesa Bed and Breakfast with the support of Marco Micozzi. Welcoming friends and family from all over, they used this opportunity as a ministry for the Lord. She was also a contract mail carrier for over 47 years where she was able to contribute to her community through this service. Vicki became active in the First Baptist Church of Kenton where she directed music. She and Monty then joined First Baptist Church of Boise City where she worked with young women through GAs. Vicki was an active member of the Black Mesa Women's Club.
Vicki is preceded in death by her parents, Lester "Pop" and Ercil "Mom" White; brothers Dean White and Keith White; sisters Margaret Apperson and Kathy Huffman; and son Matthew Roberts. She is survived by her husband Monty Joe Roberts of Kenton Oklahoma; children Melia Roberts of Knoxville Tennessee, Mark and Kathy Roberts of Kenton, Oklahoma, Mareta Walker of Perryton, Texas, Melissa Kleidosty and husband Dustin of Midlothian, Virginia; sister-in-law Diane Smith, sister Martha McKinney and husband Don of DeQueen, Arkansas; brother Jinks White and wife Vicki of Lubbock, Texas, sisters in law Jane White of Frisco, Texas and Lou Ann White of Lubbock Texas; brother in law, Walter Huffman of Granbury, Texas; fifteen grandchildren; forty-two great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Vicki loved reading, movies, family and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Often known as "Sunshine", Vicki lit up every room she entered. While many would describe her as loud and boisterous, everyone knew she was compassionate, funny, brave, caring and a woman of unwavering faith. One of her favorite scriptures is Jeremiah 29:11-13 which says "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall you call upon me and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will harken unto you and ye shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart."
To honor Vicki, in lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made to Gideon's International (www.sendtheword.org) or The Navigators Ministry (www.donations.navigators.org).
Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on July 13, 2024, at The Boise City High School Auditorium with Pastor Trevor Bulls officiating.
