Wallace (Wally) E. Lynn Obituary (1926

Wallace Eugene Lynn passed away October 10, 2013 at the age of 87 after a short illness. Wallace was born January 16, 1926 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Ezra Eugene Lynn and Johnnie Mae Overstreet. His mother died at a young age so he and his siblings were raised by his step-mother Effie Mae Henson. He attended school in Purcell and Maud, Oklahoma and graduated from Maud High School in May 1944. He had fond memories of his days as a "soda jerk" at the local drug store. After high school, he joined the Navy in September 1944 and had his basic training in Farragut, Idaho. He then served as a Yeoman in Honolulu, Hawaii until May of 1946. He married Edna Arlene Williams (deceased) in December 1948 and together they had four children. He worked at Lane Wells Oil Service at night while he attended college during the day. He graduated from Central State College in Edmond, Oklahoma in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts. He then began teaching in the Guymon School system in 1957 until he retired in 1988. He coached football, basketball, track and taught Industrial Arts and then Earth Science. He loved sports all of his life and excelled at running the low hurdles when he was young. Many of his students claimed he looked like Clark Kent. He WAS Superman to his family. In November, 1962, Wally married Pattie Sullivan Williamson. Together with her two young sons and his four, they created a blended family. He is survived by his wife Pattie of Stockton, California; sister Dona Lynn Buckholts of Sante Fe, New Mexico and brother James Darwin Lynn of Grapevine, Texas. He is survived by three daughters, Nancy and husband Larry Phillips of Stockton, California, Debra Holt of Garden City Kansas, and Karen and husband Mark McGrew of Guymon, Oklahoma; two sons Thomas and wife Kathy Williamson of Las Vegas, New Mexico, James and wife Gabrielle Williamson of Ireland. He left seven grandchildren: Summer and husband Jeff Behne of Guymon, Nicole and husband Marshall Haught of Guymon, Caleb and wife Kim Holt of Stockton, California, Joshua and wife Katy Holt of Garden City Kansas, Jessica and husband Dathan Howard of Washington, Erin and husband Nick Mraz of Lincoln, California and Bradley and wife Tierney Williamson of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He left thirteen great grandchildren: Skylar and Haylee Behne of Guymon, Kaitlyn and Cordell Haught of Guymon, Athena and Aricia Holt of Stockton, California, Aurora and Jacob Holt of Garden City, Kansas, Brooklyn and Savannah Howard of Washington, Luke (and soon-to-be born Gabe) Mraz of Lincoln, California, and Kyleigh and Elaina Williamson of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is preceded in death by his first wife, sister Helen Lynn Rogers, brother Paul Lynn, and his son, Gary Craig Lynn. A memorial service will be held in his honor at Victory Memorial Methodist Church on October 17, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Holdeman, pastor, officiating. Interment of cremains will be private in Elmhurst Cemetery under the direction of Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon.
